1 thought on “Rare Confederate Battle Flags of Alabama”

I have also been enthralled by this rather innocent view of history . It appears in margins on the you tube. The flags could narrate history. Despite thier burnished caduceus and tattered wear , they still seem to be a living . The ideals they convey inspire the people who carried them into a war. The innate virtues of courage , fidelity and a resolve to preserve justice are a hymm undulating from the vitality of the wind and cloth . The symbols of bar or Balkon, star or colour and the cross of Andrew were carried high with a bright red banner that most could see.
Why are we so blind to them now? Don’t you know that war has been over for 160 year?! And so many wars subsequent to it , and more important though most undeclared. Why should one remember these old
flags from a rebellious and contumacious people? After all they are no NAZI signs and symbols of the other war none dare forget.
The flags from Alabama counties, probably regiments , though some companies . They are not uniform and testify of different people and time vibrantly occurring within these most crucial four years in AMerican history. SOme flags had seven stars , representing states, evidently early before the border states entered the confederacy. But others had more , at
least 13 or was it fourteen? This would be correct : this would represent the soldiers from Maryland ( as I lived in Maryland in early fifties , I can know it is a southern state ,at least St. Mary’s County) ; Kentucky and Missouri.
Many of these flags are brought down . In disgrace? No more than young women , who wear it on thier bottoms. But these flags must speak, must shout something very loud and true.
Like a stone monument . But few to listen , and fewer to interpret them.
In the Bundesland ( pronounced Buntes but spellt with T deliberately) , the confederate flag is flown and respected . Because the Haken Kreuz is forbidden.
It will soon happen here. The liar will not be reminded of his falseness ; he will blame the truth .
nor the traitor of his betrayal ; he will condemn his Lord.
