IT is interesting , that the small farmer must still be dependent on the supermarket monopoly.
If Salatin is purchasing neck bones and the cheapest pork , he has no recollecting nor knowledge of the culture of Virginia. Quality was abundant and discrimination a southern quality .
It is obvious to older people , that Virginia has not bequeathed to the present generation o the blessings , it once itself inherited and preserved. The old culture of Virginia ham and apples which could compare with anything from the Washington State U. has cultivated. In West Virginia and Virginia apples may no longer be grown. Many farms have been forsaken and left derelict.
In some counties the national guard using combat vehicles to restore apple orchard to the exploited hills by surface mining . There are many opportunities for jobs or cultivating new variety of apples or other wonderful fruit indigenous . Weather can not be controlled however and it is always critical since the new “climate” has the capricious character of the gods , who have been forgotten and thus have forgotten us.
The is no natural cause of a food crisis in America . Today the South experiences drought never known . It is colder in April than February — as if the inexorable weather can be used as a weapon. Monopoly does not tolerate competition . And most small farms or gardeners have aroused thier wrath . Guvmint is interested in Jesreal wars so small things like food production or famine is not on thier agenda.
Plant gardens and raise your own hens . America’s geography could provide small farms for everyone , were it planned . Or maybe it is . Each house 7 feet between them is what they like .
I fear we must erase all of thier improvident philosophy . The error was made in 1775 when freedom and other idols became more important than life itself.
They have cultivated freedom fertilized with. education or propaganda . No one has ever observed the real product except those who, rebelled . An d they have left nothing but inexpiable debt and tradition , that still must wonder , where is this place of free and brave , called America?
